Post-Formula D Sonoma.

First of all, I want to say thanks to everyone who helped my team to get the car to run before the Finals. I appreciate each and every one of you who was there to help me get back on the track. This goes to the Falken Team, Bergenholtz Team (Ron), Maxxis-LS auto Kevin, Nate, and everyone else that was there to support my team. Thanks to each and every single one of you. Thanks to my fellow drivers that stood by to cheer us on! Although I wanted to go out there and rip it up against Stephan Verdier, the motor couldn't take another breath. Stephan took the well-deserved 1st and I came 2nd. I am very happy with our performance with RS-R Scion Toyo. Everyone from RS-R has put in their blood, sweat, and tears to make this happen, and finally we are seeing results. It just felt like everything came together and worked. Unfortunately, we couldn't make it to the end to show the fans the final battle but I guess you can say, we still have development to do with the RS-R Scion tC. We will be back stronger.

Overall, we have moved up in rankings as well. From 33 in the beginning of the season, we are now up at 12th. I can't express how grateful I am of everyone this weekend. From the fans, to my team, and of course the guys that helped my team get the car back on track. Thanks to all of you guys. Finally, i get one of those carbon trophies that I wanted to steal from Chris Forsberg.

Also on podium this weekend in 3rd place was Miki. This would be his second podium finish this season. But he is only about 10 points ahead of me in 11th place. Robbie is in 9th place about 29 points ahead of me. With one more round to go, it will be interesting to see how the Formula Drift Championship turns out.

Formula D Sonoma Update.

I saw the craziest LS-1 powered JZS160-61 GS Today. flat black.

sick.

anyway today went well for the RS-R Scion Toyo Drift team. We were matched up against Robbie Nishida. It sucked because he is my friend and i don't want to go against them in the top32 but hey, a competition is a competition and I gotta let go of friendships when it comes to battle.
So..

the outcome? I won the battle. It was sad seeing him lose but hey, i gotta do what I gotta do.

Tomorrow, I am up against Daijiro Yoshihara in his newly built V8 powered S13.
Very excited that the RS-R Scion tC is running strong.

goodnight!

oh! a gift for you people!
here is a picture steve took from formula D!
came out nice eh?

Formula D Infineon Speedway. Qualify~

First run, i got a 61.2 or something with an entry speed of 83.3 mph. 83.3!?!? i thought i was averaging 90 during practice!?.. Something's up... I dont know what. Maybe me, maybe not.

but something was not right. Also, I kind of corrected on the entry but other than that, it was ok...I think.

Second run, I was determined to get to full-lock half the time it would normally take me. So i initiated about 2 feet later than my first run and got to full-counter right away..BUT..

The speedgun failed i heard. So i don't know how fast i was going but it HAD to have been atleast 5 mph faster than my first lap.

I ended up placing 8th place with a score of 69.9 and unknown speed.

The worst part of the story is that I was matched up against Robbie Nishida. WHY!? Why not match me against him in the finals?! That means one of us is going to fail to make it to saturday.
Oh well. As a friend I would like to wish him goodluck. Unfortunately, this is a competition so I am going to rip him up. Sorry!

17!?

The guy who made this video is only 17 years old....

What was i doing when I was 17?

Driving cars into walls thinking it was cool. I didn't know the difference between "scraping" and demolishing.

Anyway, check out work. This is footage from Formula D Seattle. and remember, he is 17. Really GOOD. and his name is Abbitt Wilkerson.

more MX83

Today, i picked up a set of wheels for my missile.

I also picked up a clutch pedal assembly off of a MA70 supra so I can start with the manual conversion. I need to get all the small work out of the way before the big monster engine goes in.

I ordered a Ksport Hydraulic side-brake from ebay and now all i have to get is the coilovers from Megan next week and the swap should be under way in september.

I will be welding the diff shut.

My budget car missile MX83 cressida will be a fun car.

Adams Drift, Here I come!!!

Post Formula D Seattle.

I am cursed with transmission troubles at Seattle.

Last year, we broke the slave cylinder.

This year, we broke 2 axles and the drive shaft.

The drive shaft snapped in half, in the middle..It could have been very dangerous.

I finished somewhere in the top 16.

sad...very sad..

But besides that, everything else went well. The toyo R1-R tires we used this weekend were on point the entire weekend. I was very happy with my tire set up. Usually, I have a hard time setting up tire pressures for the track, but this time, the RS-R team did a great job with the car set-up. We didnt have great results but i feel we learned a lot.

Sonoma Here we come!

Seattle!!

As i start packing for round 5, I feel my heart thumping harder. Why am i so nervous?

I don't think I am fully recovered from Round 4 yet. I was hit pretty hard. Last week, I took my Corolla to Adams Drift to get my mind off of it. And I thought it did but it just seems to come back and taunt me. I am in serious need of tandem practice.

I need a missile. in a hurry. I need to hurry and start working on my missile project so i can practice tandem with Daijiro (he just recently picked up a missile S14 too!). It is not easy to find practice time with the competition RS-R Scion Toyo tC because we don't have spare parts. If we blow a motor, we are pretty much done.

Every morning, I watch videos from Formula D Seattle 2008 to learn my competition's different driving styles so i can attack tandem as soon as practice starts. I will be landing in Seattle Thursday and will be going straight to practice. Since we began doing Top 32 this year, it has become less important to practice solo runs as it is much easier to land a spot in the top 32 than the limiting top 16. This year, the competition focuses solely on tandem runs, atleast as I see it.

This weekend should be veeerrry interesting as I take a different approach to drifting, all over again.
